The Shunning of Children

Who returns what is given?
Who restores what is broken?
Who replaces what is stolen?
Who heals what is wounded?
Who answers what is asked?

My eyes cannot see before me
Nor can I hear the music any longer
My bones ache with no comfort
My heart has failed from exhaustion
As my spirit flees far from me

Oh that David, a king, may cry out
As millennia praise his humility
But unto this generation is curses
And for this people is judgment
All in the name of self righteousness

Pride proclaims that a child should sorrow
Pride proclaims that he falls weak
Pride banishes that he cries out
Pride punishes that he not perform
Damn the proud their imperfection

Who wishes to hear the terror within
When only their terror accounts?
When thy blood is all that matters!
Shut thy mouth of worthlessness
Give ear only to the self appraised

For silence answers nothing
And quietness too is mocked
Even honesty is cursed to hell
And the voice of heartfelt sorrow
Brings chains and wrath unlimited

This the world we’re born in
While men say they have answers
Obey our law – even above God
Or face the whip of our tongue
And the lash of our banishment

This the world who proclaims equity
As their weapon of choice to curse
Calling evil good and goodness evil
Playing justice ever more
That you pay for their demand

Fall to sorrow and fall to shame
Receive not the hand of hope
Yet stricken all from what was yours
While at the doors of sudden death
Surely this a boy must pay ten fold

Stand not even now with integrity
For all will be denied
Spit in the face of he unalike
Tear down the walls of love embrace
Not a soul will answer with care

Who comforts he who knows it not?
Who wraps their arms with grace?
For coldness answers the plea for help
And scorn pours out its rage
To they judged as unworthy now

These things held not against you
By even they who endured your shun
But held by hold of reality you men
With all the loss when needed love
Of a 14 year old boy, burned down
