That I would have had a life known to another
did I speak
that my words would have made known my intention
did I act
that my works would have made known my heart
did I will
that my life would have had merit
did I strive
that my spirit would have been of value to another
did I love
that another would have known love
did I give
that another would have known to receive
did I hope

Before me is a barren tree
standing in a deserted land
where no seed nor rain nor sun
did bring forth fruit

Blind to all
has been the softness of my heart
and the ease at which it can be emptied
humbles me

For in this life
we cannot express enough
the reality of who we are
against the desire another has
to perceive their own mind

It is a vain life within these bones
and a forgotten soul
condemned to the vision of the outside world

Thus we seek only to know why
there was no chance at all
until such time
we stood in every place
we have been put by others.
