The King’s Patience
Surely my fall could no light be found
Nor in ever essence of will belief
Entombed alone in the darkness well
Of lost hope left all before me
Yet of my heart did You hear me Lord
And found nothing to stand in Your way
For who can say that God listened not
When the wretch of death awakens?
For in these bones lie a terrible truth
Of great will and power and might
Thou presented me with course of no man
That I choose of rule or green pastures
What is it before me, I cannot discern!
Lo, they watch and seek for dark power
That elder within shadows all that I am
Even now so they wait upon my word
Who am I, my God, that it is just so?
Why armies rest in their patience?
Is the time of that time my duty to say?
For in you alone have I placed my trust!
Or is it just so it is all a mad dream?
By my wrath have awoken the giant!
Those blood lines of old in their cast
But by You, have not all been forgotten
My Lord thou are my guide and hope
And You know I will stand where placed
I shall not move or shake or turn away
Until such time of Your time command
For glory that death You did give life
And of all of me have forgiven made right
Your grace has lighted my shoulders
In wonder have I witnessed Your Throne
Even now does answer call
Just by dwelling upon Your law
Even so give strength that I be ready
My lamp is full because of Your love
Even now does peace present within
Just by speaking before Your great heart
For You are my teacher and High Priest
Of all things you do care and protect
