Failure of the Flesh
The Struggle Between Flesh and Spirit The flesh acts on fear, self-preservation, and impulse, often leading us astray, while the spirit seeks truth and righteousness.
The Need for Spiritual Nourishment Just as the body requires food, the spirit requires divine sustenance, which comes from seeking God daily.
The Path to Overcoming the Flesh Recognizing the distinction between flesh and spirit allows us to stop judging ourselves harshly and instead focus on strengthening our spirit.
Seeking God’s Help for True Strength Spiritual power comes not from personal will but from continuously asking for and receiving God’s guidance and Holy Spirit.

Failure of the Flesh
God would have us know
We are His children
Indeed all life and all things
Are God’s
Nothing which exists that we know
Is outside of God’s possession
Nothing that we don’t know
Is outside of God’s possession
Truly all heaven and earth
Galaxies, stars, planets, space
Beings of light and beings of darkness
Are all made by God, and His
This to why we should not fear
For the physical world can wound
And it can kill the physical body
Yet nothing can kill spirit but God
Our life comes from God
And to God does our life return
This earthly life is but temporary
And is shrouded by the lies of darkness
Many have forgotten
And even more do not even know
That we are not the flesh we live in
This is the deception of the world
For we have a perspective as men
Born and die – seeing this purpose
Striving, surviving, battling death
For our flesh knows it is not forever
But we are not our flesh
This body is an automobile for us
Yet it is a powerful force of life
With desires and will of its own
How often have we desired
Not to do a certain thing
And then we find ourselves doing it?
As we wonder why we did!
This is the flesh
The flesh is the weak and needy life
We are the ones who didn’t want!
The flesh is the one who wanted
Without God, the flesh wins
How often have we wished to be kind
Then find ourselves punishing another?
Then we then judge ourselves as bad
For we were unable to be kind
This is the flesh
The flesh protects itself
The flesh attacks what may harm it
The flesh manipulates for itself
The flesh fears all it can’t control
So we set out to do well
And fall at the moment of flesh fear
Because we think the fear is us
Because we think we are its feelings
Our spirit also has feelings
The flesh has feelings
Both contradict themselves
As we exist in sorrow and shame
Enough of the old ideas!
We are the observer of our life
We are the one who considers
We are the spirit God put in us
We are the life which must awaken
How can we judge ourselves
By the nonsense of our flesh?
Once we know the difference
We judge the flesh and not the spirit
We cease saying we are bad
And understand instead the flesh is weak
We cease harming our spirit
For the insanity of the flesh
Yet knowledge alone is not enough
To overcome the will of the flesh
For as our body needs power
So too does our spirit
As we can feed the physical
With physical matter
So too can we feed the spirit
With spiritual matter
How do we feed the spirit?
By trusting God with our spirit
Just as we trust food with our flesh
It requires God’s help
How do we receive God’s help?
By honestly asking for it
By continuing to ask for it
Everyday, just like food
And just as I must take action
To receive food’s power through eating
So too is there action to do
To receive God’s Holy Spirit daily
What are the actions to take?
I’ll discuss that in a new post, “Return to Spirit”.
What actions do you take to join God daily?
