Begin Again
There is no end
to the seeking of knowledge
Nor can one find
The boundary of wisdom
As one layer is revealed
Two more become apparent
As one revelation wakes our spirit
Two more expose our flesh
The growing toward God
Can seem a backwards endeavour
For as a man lets go of one wrong
Does he see more hidden in his hand
This that we may know and comprehend
The majesty of eternity
For even life reveals more life
And secrets reveal more secrets
All living things of earth
Eventually wither and pass away
Indeed even stone will turn to dust
And deserts become gardens again
Even so we know very little
One cycle to another moves on
Man enters and departs before it is so
And we see not the generations
It is the limit of this existence
That proves our prideful folly
For as one man praises himself
And another man praises another
Does each know not before or after
How can I say I am knowledgeable?
How can I say I am wise?
That which we know today
Is disproven tomorrow
And proven again true afterward
How can I say I am right?
How can I say I am wrong?
For God decides who rises and falls
And the judgment of it
changes over time
Nothing I trust in my youth
Is trustworthy in old age
Even the will of flesh changes
Belief becomes disbelief
Facts become foolishness
And as these bones wither away
Does it become clear
That this experience is not all there is
For of itself it has no lasting purpose
And of itself does it follow the grave
This is how we exit the world
That now by spirit are we lead
Our lessons are not for the flesh
Instead they are made holy
To educate our eternal spirit
As God is a spirit
And the source of all spirit
So too is all spirit from God
And he who accepts the Holy Spirit
Accepts himself and God
For God accepted us as His
And desired we would know we are
Being His are we born in spirit
Even while dwelling in the flesh
From this moment to all we choose
Therein this time becomes not vain
Nor is it without great purpose
For in spirit our eyes see anew
And our ears hear a new song
Even our heart sheds its darkness
The path may appear backward to man
But of the spirit is it enlightening
As none shall ever know all things
Nor comprehend the fullness of God
Does our journey become enthused
I am but a sapling on the earth
Growing ever more each day
What is found today is today’s growth
What is found tomorrow is more
What we learn in spirit – never ends
Accept today where you are today
And think not that it should differ
Tomorrow brings its own revelations
For time reveals when leaves fall
And time reveals when fruit appears
