Lament of the Witness

Oh Great and Holy Father
We bare witness to this world
With eyes You have made clear
And the heart You have made open

How long our God
Shall Your children toil with men?
While the selfish take all from them
And the wicked plot ways of escape
With their pride they abuse Your trust
And by whining do enslave the innocent

How long our Lord and Priest
Shall Your loved ones wait upon you?
As their earthly leaders force distress
And the greedy impoverish the world
While many draw no sober breath
So that the elderly pay the double price

How long our King and Just Guide
Shall Your truth be abandoned by man?
While the young are bought and sold
So that darkness grows upon the land
And the fathers of real love weep
That their children know not of You

How long our Most High God of Gods
Shall the lie be embraced by the fearful?
While law of man proclaims injustice just
And the hidden hand is always at work
Seeking destruction of Your beauty
For the promise of a silver coin

How long our Father whom we trust
Shall Your loved ones be controlled?
With drawn lines of obvious attack
Placing greater yokes of hardship
On the generations who love You
By the generation who love not anyone
But their own vain selfishness!

Send forth Your Son our Holy Father
That He may establish peace and truth
Upon the whole of the universe
As we have all but forgotten grace
Save those who have called Your name!

Though we of Your Spirit understand
Truly has it been accepted so
That this storm must perform its task
Even into the last kingdom shall we see.

Therefore
It is for those who know not Your word
That we do pray!
And for those who are tired and weary
We do appeal!
And for those who are hungry and thirsty
We do call upon Your comforter

With all heart is it most difficult
To witness the loneliness of our fellows
And the deceptions
for which they have believed
And the sorrow before them powerless
Because of the rise of the wicked

We pray not in faithlessness of Your word
Or in fear of self doubt
But in conflict of flesh and spirit!
For as man we do wrestle with this
Though our spirit is at peace with You

How great and wonderful a day it will be
When Your Kingdom stands above all
And all who have lived may hear Your word
In peace and grace You provide
In that powerful and everlasting reality
Of brotherly and harmonious life
For all Your creations of wonder.

We wait in the knowing, our Father
But weep for they who know not
And we speak in the knowing, our Lord
As our hearts are heavy for the blind
More so will we continue to act with faith
As You have so wonderfully instructed
With Your power in these bones
Is it unstoppable.
With Your law in our hearts
Is it unbreakable
With Your love in our spirit
Do we pray for our fellows of earth.

And by the promise of truth and the gift of our King do we come before you

Amen
