Father and Son
The judgement of my eye
Departs from me
When I look towards my Father
The doubt of my mind
Is answered
When I meditate on God’s word
The bitterness of my heart
Melts away quickly
When I consider the mercy of my Lord
The darkness of my spirit
Flees far from me
When I call upon God’s Will
Look to the shadow of my life
See how it pursues and follows
And of myself am I overcome with it
But the vision of my Father’s law
And the answer of my God’s wisdom
And the serenity of my Lord’s blessing
And the light of my God’s promise
Awaken me from death to life
Open my eyes my Father
When I am blinded by wrath
Encourage me my God
When my thoughts are full of fear
Pour kindness and comfort into me my Lord
When my heart has forsaken love
Let me live in the Holy Spirit
When my soul has lost its way!
For of all the days and nights
That I do dwell within your beautiful kingdom
With strength and power to seek you
Do I also at times wander off into darkness
Where alone in that lie
Do I need You to remember me
As a man I do not understand
And as flesh I do not comprehend eternity
Neither is knowledge or wisdom
Found within my bones
As thoughts betray
And flesh cries out for itself
But awakened in Your understanding
And while practising Your ways
Do I find knowledge and Wisdom
And comprehend the indescribable
And am moved by the grace of Love
Where no faithlessness exists
Neither can life falter or diminish
Nor sickness and hopelessness live
While in the bonds of unity with God
Or in the gift the Lord has chosen to give
Even in the purpose of my Father’s hope
Is it that I am as His Son
