Speak

Speak in the face of the naysayer
Speak in the name of your life
Speak in the form of your voice

To be enlightened
Requires that a source of light
Be given

Who will speak for you
If you will not speak for yourself
All the days of your life?

Do you hear the voice inside
Telling you to speak
Or do you hear the voice of silence?

To be wise
Requires that a source of wisdom
Be given

How many dole out their madness
While the souls of those crying out
Remain quiet?

Which voice is yours
Telling you to speak
And who tells you not to?

Can you tell?
Do you hear?
Are you afraid?

Oh I can feel the rage inside
Of each and everyone
Wanting to speak

I see their words
Hidden in their words
Hiding behind their real intent

I hear their voice
Hidden in their voice
Hiding their will

I watch them proclaim
What is safe to proclaim
Hiding their true belief

Who then shall love those who remain silent?
Who shall divine such a thing
Of they who will not speak?

If we crush our own voice
And place it in darkness
Who will find our love?

And if we speak our voice
Only to be first wounded
Who then will not know the eternal blessing?

There is no magical land
Of our own denials
Only silence of our spirit.

Oh I can feel such sadness
Because of the self-proclaimed enlightened
Without a light given

And I do witness the futility
Of those who are wise
In their own eyes

And I can feel rage at the fact
That they are those who do speak
Formulating their own agenda

While they who are drawn to goodness
And they who are prodded to speak
Cower in the dungeons of fear

Who does not know
What they are to say?
They know it even now

There is life in your words
And death in your silence
Not only for you

There too is a promise
For none can banish your words
And understand them also

Have you seen the lesson in that?
Have you found your confidence?
Do you know others need to hear the real you?

SPEAK to those who wish to hear you
SPEAK with the gift given to you
SPEAK that you may live
