Heartache and Faith
The Pain of Loss and the Power of Love Grief is presented as a natural response to love, highlighting that sorrow is not a weakness but a testament to the depth of connection shared with the lost.
The Choice Between Suffering and Awakening Each moment offers a choice: to dwell in the pain of the flesh or to rise in the faith of the spirit, demonstrating how life is a continuous dance between sorrow and peace.
The Illusion of Denial and the Need for Acceptance Denying grief or faith leads to emptiness, while true strength comes from accepting both pain and joy as part of the human experience.
The Ultimate Hope in God’s Presence The poem affirms that while the flesh demands justice for loss, true peace and restoration come through faith in God, who provides comfort beyond human suffering.

Heartache and Faith
Though my spirit rejoices
At the battle you won
Knowing your life is now with God,
My flesh cries out for you
My heart sinks further into breaking
My life stands barren of your presence
Not with knowledge
Not with understanding
Not with wisdom
Not with hope
Not with faith
Does the flesh comprehend
For the spirit embraces all things true
But the flesh requires its desire
As the spirit accepts all things good
The flesh rebels at any loss of it
And as I sit quiet another night
Longing for your presence
Does my heart measure its emptiness
And as I pray and cry for peace
Longing for Gods comfort
Does my spirit measure its blessing
As this is the way of man
And the lot of man’s life
That we be spirit and flesh
Torn always between
Experiencing both
Choosing in each moment
Which one we do listen
And such is the trouble of it
For in our greatest pain of flesh
Must we choose spirit to overcome
And in our greatest joy of spirit
Does our flesh exert its pride
Entangled always together
That we would choose
For even when we choose
Do we still experience
The sorrow of the flesh
In the midst of the spirit’s birth
And the awakening of spirit
In the midst of mourning flesh
And even though we do choose
Shall we be given a choice again
In the very next second
Time after time
And day after day
Do we dance with life and death
For the life of man is the spirit
And the flesh of man helps not
But for the powerful experience of it
Do we struggle to choose
For the flesh does demand justice
Holding onto sorrow by rite
As indeed it has lost and hurt
While the spirit is already just
Formed of life above darkness
As indeed the spirit is of God
Such that the mind itself screams
Which is it to be??!!
The faith of all things that are true?
Or the pain of all flesh that is real?
Tho many say none of it is real
And even that you don’t actually exist
Have they negated their choice
And forgotten their purpose
Because of the great fear within
Concerning both spirit and flesh
And it puffs up our pride
To believe we have found a third reality
To levels of absolute self denial
Because of intense subconscious fear
Even while still suffering in flesh
And rejoicing in spirit
Alas I digress – but to this point
That the flesh of man does hurt
And the fleeing from it makes worse
For by acceptance we overcome
And by facing it do we find strength
As it is our spirit that opens us
And our spirit that opens not
If we run from either sorrow or joy
Embrace the pain of loss in flesh
For it is by love that we feel it
And not by carelessness
Lest we bury it from ourselves
And suffer all a greater emptiness
By denying our choice and path
Embrace the joy of peace in spirit
For it is by God it is given to us
And not from the sorrows we face
Lest we forget our blessing and hope
And suffer all a greater emptiness
By denying our God and our Life
