A Time of Brothers
(For two friends)
What is this life if not a mere beginning?
The shortness of which does question
For as one generation comes, and another departs
So then are we brought before the door of wonder.
How I can taste the ash upon my tongue
Of all that burned with fire and force
That lived a bright hot shining life
Taken down to ash from where it once came
How I can feel the pain of all left undone
And such beautiful words I had never spoken
Yet who can deny the sound of them now
As they cry aloud from this heart before heaven?
How I can feel the joy of moments our own
That laughter of time carried through
The gift of a bond from blood to blood
As Man to Man hold spirit still to be dear
Trumpets, Trumpets take your place
As a brother prepares his flight home
Sing songs and praises to his name
Carry the tune of our love upon them
For I who remain to now know of its worth
Of this portion of time honoured true
Seek only the greatness of God to behold
These hopes of Life always cherished of love
What is this life if not a mere beginning
As ones spirit upon death still lives on?
Must they truly be real in that Palace of life
To also be living in the ashes of man
This time of time will not be forgot
As no spirit is blotted from God
For his name shall not depart from my heart
As a Son of God sets sail for Home.
