Will My Cats Remember?

Tonight I got to play with my cats, and to say another goodbye.  I have sat in my new place.  So quiet, so alone, so at peace, and so scared.  Is this all that I am?  Is there nothing more?  The kitties know something is up, one even looked into my now empty closet wondering where my clothes went.  One spent the night crying to me endlessly in kitty lingo asking me where I have been.  I pick them up and smell them.  They now smell stronger then ever in my nose, and I cannot hold back my tears.

How long until they forget me?  How long until I am nothing to them? How long will my heart be broken for my little friends, my little ones that I love?  I remember how one of my cats had severe heart disease 5 years ago.  He only had a few weeks to live. Every night he would lay on my chest… I would put my hands on him… and I would pour into him my energy, and wash away his sickness. That was a long time ago, and now he has no sign he ever had heart disease. I offered to the heavens to shorten my life if it would give him more to live.  This I did for my cat, a most beautiful black panther.  He is feral and wild to everyone but me.  And he talks only to me.

How long will this new agony be in me as I say my goodbyes?  And who will protect my princess?  She was abandoned, as all my cats were, and she was terribly frightened.  Starving and unwilling to go to anyone, I spoke to her softly for hours until she finally came to me. She still fears every human except me.  And she comes every time I call her name.  Who will protect her now>>>>????? Who understands the needs of an emotional cat?  Each day of her life she has slept beside me as I did.  She is only comfortable in my arms.  How I will miss my cats! How terribly I will miss them.
