Thanksgiving and Gratitude
Perspective on Gratitude vs. Loss What we take for granted as "small things" are actually profound gifts, and recognizing them shifts our hearts from dissatisfaction to deep appreciation.
God’s Presence in Every Moment Even in our ignorance, mistakes, and selfishness, God continues to bless, protect, and offer opportunities for redemption.
The Fragility of Life and the Power of Awareness One moment can change everything, yet each day we wake is a miracle, reminding us to value the safety, peace, and provisions we receive.
True Gratitude Leads to Action Thanksgiving is not just receiving but also giving; when we acknowledge our blessings with gratitude, we become more open to witnessing and sharing God’s work.

Thanksgiving and Gratitude
How many time were we saved
When we should have been hurt?
How many times did it all work out
When it should have been chaos?
How many times did we survive
When we should have been dead?
For all the calamity and misfortune
That enters our lives
Far more has been done for us
Unaware – To preserve our steps
Even more has been given to us
Unseen – to preserve our life
While we focus on want and desire
And hope for what is not yet in hand
All the while is God already providing
While we dwell on hurts and wrongs
And wish for a better outcome
All the while God is already helping
Inches and seconds
Moments and choices
Last minute changes and alterations
All of these may be miracles
To that end we did not receive
For we walked another day unaware
Consider the steps of a day
The bumps and bruises
The activities and commotion
The coming and going
The ups and down of a day
How much could have gone wrong?
For all that does go wrong in a day
Hundreds times more has gone right
If we have the eyes to see
And the ears to hear
And the will to consider
What might have been
And if we have recieved water
And were given food for our belly
Or stayed warm in our clothes
And found shelter in our homes
Indeed if we breath without struggle
Are we blessed beyond measure
And if I have a friend with me
And even more – a soul to share love
And a family that gathers and cares
Even a fellowship of common goals
Or a job to keep things going
Truly am I blessed more than I know
So what we take for granted
We call little things
But they are not little at all
When measured against the bad
They are not minor in any sense
As each is a direct gift of the day
For nothing is promised
Nor are there any guarantees
But that God said
He would not leave us, nor forsake
And He will guide and protect
Any and all who follow Him
But even greater is this!
That even in my folly and wickedness
Was God there giving blessing
Was God there protecting
Was God doing more good for me
Than any bad that had overcome me
And what can I say of the bad
That did happen within this life?
Most of it was my own doing
Most of it was my own ignorance
Most of it was my own selfishness
All of it found value – when I saw it
As it is because most of the bad
Came from choices I made
Or things I believed to be right
When in fact they were born from fear
When in fact they were born from want
When in fact – I ignored goodness
Yet even so did goodness happen
And even so was I protected
And even so was I given opportunity
And even so was I accepted
Found in darkness I did dwell
Even so was I loved
It takes one second
For me to destroy my life
One small choice of self can kill
Yet after millions of those desires
Did I wake another day – alive
Did I receive a gift of today
Look to what is small that we have
Look to the offerings of today
Look to the little moments of luck
Look to the times we navigated safe
Look to what we also were able to share
And there we shall see Gods hand!
God gives in every moment
A breath – a choice – a path
A hope – a possibility – a miracle
They often go without notice
They often seem just normal
But to he who suffers – they are salvation
It takes one moment to lose it all
And every moment of peace
Every moment of safety
Is a gift of the Holy Spirit of God
As millions pray for safety and peace
Do we hope and pray also for them
For when we receive with thankfulness
And then act also in gratitude
Are we given more to witness
As eyes open to humility and relief
As hearts open to love and to joy
Do we witness the works of God
