Sacred Life
Lift up your brothers
Stand always with them
Give hand when they fall
Share heart when they are broken
What does it profit us
When we scold another in judgment?
Have we added to our righteousness?
Have we added to theirs?
What gain have we made
When we place ourself above another?
Have we risen at all in our delusion?
Have we added truth to our false pride?
For it is so inequality lives only in the flesh
And even of that only because of man
For God formed all in the image of life
And he who suffers reveals our disgrace
For it is so equality is of the spirit
As it is the very breath of God
That no eye of flesh can discern
Nor judge their makers to be in err
What ignorance it is to think oneself better
Than any other before you
For it is your Creator you have scoffed
And He who formed your life you despise
What woe thou has laid up for yourself
That you would consider yourself right
By harming the life of another
Found also in you – awaken my brother!
For he who cries lies!
Has himself also been false
And he who cries evil!
Could not judge evil without knowing it himself
Can a potter judge the pilot?
Or the musician judge the builder?
How then can thou cry villainy
Without being a villain?
Have we not known this simple fact?
For he who has wounded outwardly
Has anger and fear in his heart
And he who covers his wrath before men
Has anger and fear in his heart
He who would speak against his brother
Has first deceived himself as a devil
Yet puffs himself up to the listener
Treating your life as even worth less
So let me raise you up my brother
And remind you of your worth
That your ears need not be assaulted
By the fearful man of pride
Let me remind you brother
That your spirit need not be in unrest
At the cursing of your brothers wrath
For it is he who is without the truth
They who are of the weakest position
Will exert the greatest threat
For even their spirit knows they are in err
Though their mind has been shut from it
But as for me I do love you brother
For my Father has loved us all
And revealed it is good with us
That we offer ourselves to this peace
For the condemner has been taken over
By another father who does not belong
That wicked liar is a parasite
Feasting on the life of our family
Therefore love them who have judged
Forgive them of their crime
They themselves do not know what is right
As we also have been wrong many times
Some will not be in the way of life
And we need not block them their lesson
For our Father will teach them as He wills
So we can walk with those who know us
Raise up your brother
Let him know you understand
Even he who mocks your life
For he is your younger self
Take no account of his wrong doings
Pray always for his awakening
That he may not know the pain he caused
Nor of his great sorrow ahead
He is your brother.
