Reborn

If I have lied
I am unworthy to judge a liar

If I have stolen
I am unworthy to judge a thief

If I have cheated
I am unworthy to judge a cheater

If I have punished
I am unworthy to judge a punisher

If I have cursed
I am unworthy to judge a curser

If I have ridiculed and condemned
Scorned and scolded
Mislead and manipulated
Gave false witness and damned
Then I am unworthy to judge

Consider the hive and all its workers
Who can mark one from another?
Likewise is all in darkness
Who speak and do such
One among all – the same

But pride will tell me it is not so!
That I will make a name for myself
And call myself by a word I choose
That I am above all
And greater than these
Look at how small they are to me
As they too say the same of me
For we are the same
Yet it is my choice to blind myself
With pride of denial

Do my words change my appearance?
Does my desire change my truth?
Has my blindness given me sight?
Has the boasting love of self
Erased my crime?

Indeed all is self delusion
For who is good but God?

Who can put truth
Into the mouths of a liar?

Who can put love
Into the heart of the wicked?

Who can give sight
To the eyes of the self deluded blind?

That One is God

For to speak truth one must have truth
And truth is from God
To give love one must have love
And love is from God

I who was born
In the cradle of the evil master
Learned and was given
The darkness of the world
This worm was in me from youth

I who was born again
In the cradle of the Righteous King
Am learning and am given
The Light of the Kingdom
This spirit is with us eternally

I, who revelled in want and desire
Thirsted always and wasn’t quenched
Yet a moment with God
Answered all hunger

Just as the brain surgeon
Cannot operate on his own brain
Neither could my wickedness
Banish my wickedness
Nor was I able to do good
Even with the want of it

But He who is Good
Reveals goodness
To those who earnestly seek it
And he who honestly asks of God
To reveal truth – will find it

Yet do not be too disheartened
Upon these personal revelations
For all who are shown themselves
Are aghast at their former delusion
Much weeping and gnashing of teeth
Much sorrow and terrible shame

So God also sends comfort & love
Hope replaces despair
Truth replaces falsehoods
Power replaces powerlessness
Where we once desired to do well
Now we see it can be so
Where we once desired to hide
Now we see we are not ashamed
Where we once felt trapped
Now we see we are freed

For now the liar in me
Can help another liar to courage
And the thief in me
Can help another thief to amend
As the wickedness in me
Is known to the wicked
Who witness it no more
Asking how it can be so?

As a man who fought a war
Gathers with other soldiers
That they may comfort one another
And a man who lost a son
Gathers with others who lost a child
That they may heal together
So too can the previously fallen man
Knowing the pathway of darkness
Guide those still lost in darkness
Towards the way out of darkness

And this to the meaning of judgment

For no curse ever healed
Neither can a lie produce righteousness
But they who love the unrighteous
Have loved those God loved
And also come to accept themselves
As God has accepted and healed them
Bearing witness then also
To the love of God healing another
That both may rejoice together
In the glorification of God
Who glorified them with His love
That healed our wickedness
And brought us out of darkness
To the wonder of Life and Grace

I am unworthy to judge
I am worthy to serve my fellows
