Bone and Blood, Flesh and Spirit
Here my cry oh bones and blood
Set down thy imperious rage
This spirit am I put forth within
Beset the strength of thy insanity.
For thee who suffer and tool at hest
Labor long at the double effort
Of this borne given desire this made
And the purpose of thy true command.
That I should speak plainly abroad your eye
Fitting always that we be agreed
For you and I are of one refrain
And the works of thy hands befall me.
So here it is that you should know
The victim riles are built within you
But he who is me shall now rule this house
And love your form and frame in grace.
Fear no longer thy portion of sorrowful lent
Though it bashes against your instinct
I love you still that you protect yourself
Compassion of spirit lives understood.
But know I know I am no longer you
As your frame is given to house me
What beautiful work of the Masters hand
Did bless my way to be within you
I hate you not though you go astray
It is part and portion your function
Greater still are the blessed gift of you
That I care of the proper gratitude
But it is time that my spirit does lead
And the actual life of me take charge
For God has offered me His power
To rule my step in error of thee
You’ll still have fear and restless desire
You’ll still feel the fight and darkness
You’ll still think only of yourself
Though with God are we not alone
My spirit wakes at Gods great gift
I see the you and the me
Though we walk as one in this great earth
Thy manner is separate of eternal life
I cherish what lessons you have taught
My flesh is beautiful now to me
I give thanks for all experience shown
Though bone and blood is not me.
