With and Without Her
Love as a Foundation: The poem explores love as a fundamental aspect of human experience, suggesting that even those who reject love or express disdain for it do so from a place of unfulfilled desire or past pain. Love is portrayed as an innate yearning that cannot be easily dismissed.
Self-Discovery Through Relationship: The speaker reflects on the personal growth that occurs in loving relationships. By understanding oneself in the context of love, one can achieve a deeper sense of identity and purpose.
Unity in Love: The poem underscores the idea that love creates a partnership that transcends individual struggles. Together, the lovers face life's challenges and seek spiritual fulfillment, portraying love as a unifying force that enhances both their journeys.
Duality of Experience: The contrasting states of being "with" and "without" her illustrate the duality of love's impact. The speaker presents a stark difference in their emotional and spiritual states, showing how love brings vibrancy, creativity, and strength, while its absence leads to isolation and despair.

With and Without Her
Without Her, I am as a voice lost.
There is the banishment of music,
without her.
Without her, I am as an uncreated reality.
There is darkness without form,
without her.
Without her, I am as a consumed Lion.
There is a desolate planet of sand,
without her.
I speak so that she may be forever secure in her remembrance
The words of a solemn oath,
The covenant of an ageless family,
The beginning and the end.
All men may go to God,
And All men may find shelter there.
But who among us does not ponder our existence?
Who among men has not dreamed of perfection?
Even he who has hated love does so because of loss.
Even he who despises women does so because of his idea of what he has not known.
Even he who says he shall love no more, does so because of the depth to his passion for it.
Even he who says there are none among the women who are worthy does so because he has a hope which was not filled.
How can a man escape his desire by rebellion of it? For if this were true of him, he would not resort passionate denial. If his heart was not built upon a dream for love, he would not damn it in any way.
I speak so that she may be secure in what her man knows of himself. I speak so that she may be remembered, and not forgotten or tossed out among the selfishness of our worlds women today.
This man did look and did see with his own eyes the falling of my brothers to their own disbelief. I have witnessed the shattered and broken hearts of my brothers who do not remember themselves and why they crave a companion so badly. I have stood and listened to the restless hearts who have surrendered to their societal morality which broke their spirits long before they were men. I saw them fall even before they walked. How can they be men when their own fathers teach them to dishonor themselves? How can they be men when their own mothers teach them to fear themselves?
I speak, because without her I go to God alone. I am half, and have squandered the talents of my heart without her.
Together we go to God and to the Reunification of our spirit do we find the sacred palace that our adversary besieged so long.
With her, my voice is Heard.
There is unbridled music to score the Heavens.
with her.
With her my Spirit creates endlessly
There is passion in the dark,
with her.
With her I am a Roaring Lion.
There is a land of plenty, and fertile with riches,
with her.
