The Heart’s Absolution
I found the greatest gift in Her
What need shall I seek of others?
When she also knows my honor
When she also reflects my integrity
When she also values my worth
When she also harbors my love
When she also creates my world
When she also shares my burdens
When she also wants my desires
When she also seeks my peace?
I find comfort in the secrets I know of her
And humor in the opinions other may have of her.
I find awe in her unknown language
And purpose in the discovery of it.
I find total weightlessness in her hug
Unspeakable relief in her touch
Unimaginable mercy in her kiss
And perfect bliss in our union.
Our spirituality demands our togetherness
Our hearts have always sought each other
Our minds were in torment alone
Our bodies were in a desert full of mirages.
We have been spoiled now to anything less than this absolution
All earthly things of actual value cannot be stolen
For my treasures are within her passion for me
My riches are found in her desire for me
My satisfactions are found in her needs
My comforts are found in her wants
Our wealth is measured by our love
And our Eternity is found in our seeking of God
Who can steal what can only be given?
And who can covet what is known only to one?
And who can destroy what wasn’t manufactured?
And who can dismiss what they do not rule?
And who can judge what they do not know?
Yes our treasures are buried deep
And cannot be found by anyone
Not because we have the only map
Not because we are worthy
Not because anyone is lost
Not because no one else has their own treasure!
But simply because
We are the only ones who stand upon our world
as All Lovers do
Within the quiet vigil
Of my secret heart
Rested a woman torn apart
Seeking safe and sound
The replenishing flow
Of one remembered soul.
On a bridge from divide
In the flesh other-side
Came I in heavy horse
That no longer alone
Without her tender home
Did I bring the food for the hearth.
Arise again and again woman to your life
Drink always from the always cup
Return over and over your love unlimited
And feast forever on our bountiful harvest.
From outside in we found ourselves
And inside out we create it
From need and want we reversed our course
And together in love we obeyed it.
